Sky News host Alan Jones spoke to Tumut Broom Factory owner Rob Richards about his work in producing some of the last handmade millet brooms in Australia.
Handmade millet brooms have been made at the Tumut-based factory the same way since 1946.
However, the 1200 tonnes of millet harvested each season when millet growing was at its peak has reduced to only eight tonnes per season.
“It’s the same story with milk, beef, lamb, pork wool, you name it,” Mr Jones said.
“If we don’t make a conscious effort to buy Australian-made, we’re in strife”.
